Why are we advocating?

Reading Audio

Sure, many people have heard and talked about the 5 R’s. But what do they mean? Refusing, Reducing, Reusing, Recycling and Rotting are methods to help keep our planet clean and safer. But how? Well, Refusing is saying “no” to stuff that comes to waste like plastic bottles and utensils. Reducing is using not harmful materials. Reusing is repeatedly using objects that do not harm the environment. Recycling is when people recover certain materials to be used once again. Rot’s meaning is using objects that can be decomposed.

Why is this method important for our environment? A summarized reason would be that the same large amount of trash would not end up in the landfills if more people start recycling. According to the balance theory, it supports the amount of waste from construction sites which then gets sent for recycling processes (used for projects).

Of course, that was just a mere example out of all the ways we could do it. Switching to a sustainable lifestyle, speaking out for the community, organizing cleanups, and managing waste are all on our list of future matters that we would address and raise awareness for.

Moving on to our main question. Why is advocating for the environment important? Mostly, people support and fight for the environment to keep it safe from diverse types of things threatening it like factories or waste production. This is important not only for our surroundings but for the organisms living in it too. Protecting our habitat is important for our health. For instance: people, animals, and plants need clean air and water to survive and stay strong. One day, if everything were polluted, the air was dusty, and the water was dirty, people would not be able to live because of the diseases and public sickness caused. Not only that but if people do not stop burning fossil fuels or stop deforestation, ocean levels will rise, ice in the Arctic and Antarctica will melt, and disastrous storms will strike.
